I recently completed the ‘Capstone: Creating a Sustainability Proposal’ course on Coursera, and I’m excited to share my experience! This course is the culmination of the ‘Become a Sustainable Business Change Agent’ specialization, and it truly puts your learning into practice.
The primary goal of this capstone is to develop a comprehensive sustainability proposal. Coursera offers two excellent avenues for this: a detailed case study involving a hypothetical ski resort called ‘Snowflake Ski Basin,’ or the option to create a proposal for your own company or organization. For those who want an even deeper dive, you can tackle both!
The Snowflake Ski Basin case provides a rich environment for applying the concepts learned in the previous courses of the specialization. It’s a well-crafted scenario that presents numerous opportunities to identify areas for sustainability improvement and formulate actionable recommendations. I found it incredibly engaging to analyze the resort’s operations and propose innovative solutions.
Alternatively, developing a proposal for my own organization was a fantastic opportunity to directly impact my workplace. It allowed me to identify specific sustainability challenges and present data-driven solutions that could lead to tangible improvements. This hands-on approach is invaluable for real-world application.
